The Friends of Sacred Heart School Association has been raising money for the school for over thirty years. We are a registered charity run entirely by volunteers, and anyone connected to the school - parents, carers, staff, wider family and friends - is a member by default.
What we actually do
Two things, mostly. We run events to help build the community, and we raise funds to support the school: Christmas and Easter fayres, discos, bingo nights, quiz nights, raffles, bake sales, and own-clothes days.
That money pays for extra-curricular enrichment and community events: the things beyond the school budget that make a school year worth remembering, and the occasions that bring everyone together.
The school tells us what would make the biggest difference, and we vote on which ideas to fund. Sometimes that is a large project that takes years of fundraising. More often it is a series of things: pantomimes, ice-cream van visit, chickens' coop provision, the extras that turn a good school day into a memorable one.
What your money has paid for
- KS1 iPads
- Playground trim trail
- Outdoor classroom
- Library refit
- Themed celebration days
Where the money is not spent
FOSHA has no paid-staff, and no office. Beyond the cost of putting an event on, our insurance and minimal admin costs, the money only supports good-causes.
How it is run
A small committee handles the paperwork that the Charity Commission requires and keeps the accounts straight. Everything else - the actual doing - is whoever volunteers.

Joining in
There is no joining. Come to a meeting, help at an event, reply to one of the class group messages when someone asks for help. All of it counts, and none of it obliges you to do it again.
